Adam Lambert ruled 2009

This year has been a roller coaster ride forAdam Lambert.  From his first audition onAmerican Idol in January to his infamously risque AMA performance in November, Americans watched Lambert transform from an obscure theater performer to mainstream superstar before their eyes.
The extremely talented Lambert can wail like a hard rock banshee or sing slow, ethereal ballads that melt hearts.  His voice is truly an amazing instrument.  It's been a while since an artist of his unique caliber and vocal range came along.  Adam is not just a singer, he's a performance artist with mass appeal, a feat never before accomplished by a male (Lady Gaga managed to be the first female to achieve the same distinction this year).
Adam had people tuning into Idol this year in record numbers, giving a much-needed shot in the arm to the aging show.  Adam's popularity was based on his originality and versatility, and he continued to deliver amazing, goosebump-inducing performances week after week. Even before the competition was over, Adam was featured on the cover of Entertainment Weekly, which later named him Entertainer of the Year.
It came as a shock to many when folksy crooner Kris Allen ultimately won the competition, but it didn't stop Lambert from becoming the undisputed standout star of the summer Idols tour; in fact, he was the only Idol mobbed by autograph-seekers after every show.  Newsday columnist Glenn Gamboa declared Lambert was the only Idol who was "ready for stardom now" back in August.
His legions of fans (known as "Glamberts") are fiercely loyal - they happily donated over $253,000 to public schools at Adam's request.  Lambert told his fans to give to people in need instead of buying gifts for him, a show of generosity rarely observed in celebrities.
Following his stint on Idol, Adam has appeared on the covers of major magazines like Rolling Stone, Details, Out, and Billboard.  He has been unabashedly outspoken about his sexuality and the fact that he doesn't want to be seen as some kind of gay role model.  Adam told CBS's The Early Show cohostMaggie Rodriguez, "I'm not a babysitter, I'm a performer" following his AMA performance that landed him on ABC/Disney's sh-t list.  The network canceled two scheduled live appearances by Lambert (CBS scooped him up right away), but tried to make nice by airing pre-taped appearances on The View and Barbara Walter's Most Fascinating People of the Year special.
His hotly anticipated major-label album, For Your Entertainment, made an impressive #3 debut in November on the Billboard 200.  His second single from the album, "Whataya Want From Me," co-penned by Pink, has just been released.
So what does 2010 hold for Adam Lambert?  Expect more great music, more fun, and more controversy.  Adam wouldn't have it any other way.  After all, he's here for our entertainment.

Adam Lambert Just Wants to Be Who Adam Lambert Is

Adam Lambert Just Wants to Be Who Adam Lambert Is by Mary Zeiher

But Adam Lambert Also Wants to Keep His Audiences Guessing

Adam Lambert just wants to be Adam Lambert. He wants to be honest about who he is. The American Idol runner-up, and maker of news world-wide from his performance at the American Music Awards on November 22, 2009.

As we now know, before his first album, "For Your Entertainment", was released, Adam Lambert performed at the AMAs and caused quite a controversy that continues to be reported about for 2009. His racy performance included french-kissing a man and simulating oral sex with a dancer, among other things.

That performance led to cancelled performances on ABC that included Good Morning America, The Jimmy Kimmel Show and they cancelled Adam Lambert from Dick Clark'sNew Year's Rockin' Eve.

Adam Lambert has since come back strong with performances on the CBS Morning Show and even eventually came back to ABC with an appearance on The View. He has also been a guest on Chelsea Lately and theJay Leno Show along with multiple other appearances. Adam Lambert is one busy guy here at the end of 2009.

Lambert will also be performing at the annual Gridlock New Year's Eve concert in Los Angeles, California - instead of that Rockin' Eve gig. Adam Lambert is the headline act for Gridlock and he will perform at the stroke of midnightNew Year's Eve. Gridlock New Year's Eve will not be televised though. So for many of us Lambert fans we are very sad that we will not ring in the New Year with our new favorite musical star Adam Lambert.

For all of this hoopla - oh and Adam did release his new album and has sold over 200,000 copies so far -
Adam Lambert still just wants to be Adam Lambert. Lambert said, "I'm a sexual person, that's who I am. I'm just trying to be honest about who I am as a human being." And that would seem to be exactly what his throngs of fans want.

Article about Terri in my hometown

December 27, 2009 -- Adam Lambert lost a loved one this holiday season: His avid fan, Terri Sanvicente. Continuously bludgeoned by a tire iron wielded by her children's father the night before Christmas, this kind and caring person passed away early Christmas Day from the injuries sustained during that violent act.

Houston area-based Terri Sanvicente was a regular Adam Lambert tweeter, showing the showman how much of a fan she was for the American Idol runner-up. Now the tables have turned, with Adam Lambert writing about Terri Sanvicente yesterday (December 26) on Twitter.com:  "My thoughts are with the children and babysitter of Terri [Sanvicente]. Terri had so much joy to share. Light and love to her memory."

Lambert Twitter followers have followed suit, posting messages to show the sadness they feel about fellow fan Terri Sanvicente and other women who have been victims of domestic violence.
RIP, Terri Sanvicente, RIP.

American Idol fans are donating to a Houston shelter tonight in memory of Terri Sanvincente, the Adam Lambert fan who was murdered.

ADAM LAMBERT Shooting Video for, “Whataya Want From Me”

Adam spent Monday, December 20, 2009 shooting the video for his second single, “Whataya Want From Me.” The video takes place outside/in a club and is said to be from his lovers point of view, and has a young girl too young to get into the club .. and of course, some spats – to ring in the whataya want from me theme. It follows along a storyline from his lovers point of view — not sure if his lover is some guy, or this young gal … ya never know – Adam likes to play guessing games with us.
This will be interesting. From what we already know above, I’m not crazy about the video taking place through his lovers point of view, and I’ll tell you why. Adam won everyone over not just through his incredible talent – and quirkiness, but also by connecting with his audience. He wouldn’t have become so super-famous so quickly if he hadn’t connected with all of us. After the ama’s, he backtracked a little to reconnect with us, and help re-establish his public image – if you recall, he said he was going to get back to the music and try out new ways to present himself to the public. On Ellen, he sang such a sincere version of “Whataya Want From Me” – the singing, the emotion – it was as if he was saying to all of us – especially those who rejected him after the ama’s – and he uses these lines to describe himself, saying they fit perfectly – “It’s not you, it’s me. I’m a freak. But thanks for loving me cuz you’re doing it perfectly.” And then begs the question – whataya want from me? To have this song represent a reconnection to Adam is perfect … but to shift the representation of emotion from Adam to his lover in the video may prove a disappointment. When I hear the song, I hear Adam telling me he’s different and wants me to love him, his music, and all of his quirkiness – anyway. I can’t – don’t want to – shift that placement onto a stranger in a video. It will ruin the picture already in my head. Now – that’s putting a lot of thought into this … but only because some songs do bring an emotional attachment as opposed to just fun listening. Mind you – I don’t care what the story the video tells is, I just prefer it come from Adam’s point-of-view …. but no matter what I’ll enjoy whatever he produces...

Adam #6 on New York Post's Entertainer of the Year

No 6. Adam Lambert
It's crazy to think that in 2008, the name Adam Lambert didn't mean anything. Now when his name is bandied about, a million images, sounds and high notes cycle through your mind. From his amazing reworkings of iconic songs ("Mad World," "If I Can't Have You") on "American Idol" to his shocking AMA performance, the man has been on the tip of everyone's tongue for 365 days. But Adam's biggest accomplishment has been his
questionably covered, but undoubtedly brilliant debut CD, "For Your Entertainment" and the gay old time he's had promoting it.

New Article on EW

Someday Adam Lambert will be on ALL the channels

Wednesday night, Adam Lambert chatted about acid-tripping on Chelsea Lately, participated in a random mistletoe fail cameo on The Jay Leno Show, and sang “Whataya Want From Me” on his home planet/channel, Fox! Sadly, EW.com’s Idoloonie-in-chief Michael Slezak spent Adam’s banner night in some other country, likely hoping his iPod battery doesn’t run out so he can finish out his “Sweatin’ to the Idols Vol. 29″ playlist while floating around on a lily pad...

I've Been Looking for This Pic Forever!!!!

MTV #3 Man of The Year (Not based on fan votes!)

Adam Lambert Breaks Through To #3 Man Of The Year

Over-the-top singer burst on the scene with 'American Idol' and keeps surprising us.

"When season eight of "American Idol" premiered January 13, no one knew who Adam Lambert was or what he'd become. Sure, his first audition — he took on Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" — raised a few eyebrows, but in the early stages of the show, Lambert was outshined by the likes of Normund Gentle and that chick who wore a bikini.
That all changed with a vamping take on Michael Jackson's "Black or White," a decidedly demure version of the Smokey Robinson-penned "Tracks of My Tears" and, of course, his now-legendary cover of Tears for Fears' "Mad World." Suddenly, improbably, Lambert — the theater kid with the 100-octave voice and the penchant for dangly jewelry — became the "Idol" front-runner.
Of course, we all know how that turned out. Despite his defeat at the hands of Kris Allen in the season-eight finale, Lambert was unquestionably the biggest "Idol" star of the year, if not of all time. He graced magazine covers, pundits speculated about his sexuality — he was everywhere you looked. Post-"Idol," well, he just kept rising. In fact, Lambert was famous for all of 2009, which is why he comes in at #3 on our list."

Adam Lambert Steals The Show On 'So You Think You Can Dance' Finale

'American Idol' runner-up also cracks jokes on 'Chelsea Lately' Wednesday night.

"The season-six finale of "So You Think You Can Dance" on Wednesday night included big-name musical guests Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige and Leona Lewis, but the performer who truly managed to steal attention away from winning dancer Russell Ferguson and the five runners-up was fellow reality-show contestant Adam Lambert, who did a show-stopping rendition of "Whataya Want From Me."
Dressed in a slim-fitting gray suit (with strange, black, blobby detailing on the shoulder), a pompadour and saddle shoes, Lambert busted out with a beautifully sung, toned-down performance of his Pink-and-Max-Martin-penned tune. Instead of the theatrics he employed at the American Music Awards last month, Lambert used his voice to keep everyone entertained.
On Wednesday, the Idol runner-up also stopped by E!'s "Chelsea Lately," where he talked all about his new celeb pals Madonna and Lady Gaga and joked with host Chelsea Handler about dying his naturally red hair black. "Opie doesn't do rock and roll," he said.
Handler told the singer that she really enjoyed the AMA performance that caused an "uproar" at ABC. "I liked it too. It was fun," he said, and the comedian invited him to come back on the show and re-create that particular performance anytime he wants to. "I will definitely keep that in mind," he responded.
Lambert, who worked in his song "Fever" with Lady Gaga, added he really enjoyed working with the superstar. "We did a song together on the album," he said. "And she's a trip. She's awesome. She's amazing. She's kind of out there but sweet and supportive and very creative and takes her art really seriously."
Lambert also described his brief encounter with Madonna at her New York apartment near Central Park. "Well it was for five minutes. It was like a walk through," he explained. "She was cool. I mean, we have a mutual friend that introduced us."
Lambert also cleared up the rumor that he was on drugs when he decided to audition for "American Idol." "The tripping on acid part did happen, but the actually decision to do 'Idol' was later, after the fact. Rolling Stone took some poetic license with that," he said. "[When I took acid] I just had an epiphany, a breakthrough."

Adam Named Person of The Year by Time Magazine

"He was not the winner of American Idol. He was not even the first Idol runner-up to later make the thoroughly unsurprising announcement that he is gay. (See Aiken, Clay.) But Lambert came first in generating attention: that eyeliner, that voice — ranging from a husky smolder to a granite-splitting glam-rock shriek — and those glittered-out, magnetic performances. And there was the way Lambert treated his sexuality, which reflected the tricky path of gayness toward mainstream acceptance. Lambert never confirmed his being gay until finishing Idol, but, importantly, he never denied it. And unlike Aiken's, his performances had an unmistakable erotic charge — he was a man, not a man-child. After Idol, he infuriated some viewers with a raunchy, grinding show at the American Music Awards on ABC. Rather than apologize, he charged a double standard for gay men while keeping a smile on his face: when Joy Behar told him, on The View, that he was "not exactly a nice Jewish boy," he quipped, "I'm a little different. My dreidel spins the other way." Lambert ended 2009 out, proud — and loud."
